Clinton and Peres on Mid-East talks

Face-to-face talks between the Israeli and Palestinian leaders are continuing in Jerusalem after yesterday's session in Egypt.

The aim is to tackle the core issues behind the conflict, including a dispute over Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

The American secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, speaking in Jerusalem after talks with the Israeli president, Shimon Peres, said the Israeli and Palestinian leaders were serious about peace.
