Iran cancels planned US hiker's release

Iran has cancelled the planned release of an American woman who has been detained in the country for more than a year.

Sarah Shourd is believed to be suffering from potentially serious health problems and was due to be released as a goodwill gesture for the Eid holiday.

Tehran's prosecutor general said Ms Shourd would not be freed because legal procedures were not complete.

She was seized with Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal last July near the Iraq border. The three are accused of espionage.

Jon Leyne reports.
