Middle East peace talks 'constructive'

The first direct talks between Israeli and Palestinian leaders for nearly two years have been taking place in Washington. The US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, said Benjamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas could achieve the long-cherished goal of ending the conflict.

The Israeli Prime Minister, Mr Netanyahu, warned that painful concessions would be needed on both sides before a lasting peace could be achieved.
