US President Barack Obama condemns West Bank shootings

US President Barack Obama has condemned the killing of four Jewish settlers in the West Bank by the armed wing of Hamas.

The shootings came ahead of Thursday's talks in the US between Israeli and Palestinian leaders which are the first direct negotiations in almost two years.

Mr Obama spoke out against the attacks as he held a news briefing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

All sides say the incident on the eve of negotiations will not derail the imminent reopening of the process.
