Colombia 'confident' of Farc peace deal, says president

For more than 50 years, Colombia has been at war with the Farc rebel group.

In an interview with the BBC, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos says he is "quite confident" the Farc and Colombia can make an official peace this year.

"We have taken important steps," Santos says, including the UN vote to approve monitoring the ceasefire, and says the US and UK have been helpful during the peace talks.

After an accord is signed, "we have to construct peace," Santos said.
