Villarrica volcano eruption puts Chile on alert

The Villarrica volcano in southern Chile has been throwing out jets of lava from its crater, putting the town of Pucon on high alert.

The authorities have been preparing local residents for the possibility of an evacuation in case of a larger eruption.

The national park where the volcano is located is currently closed as a safety precaution.
