Australian tourist kidnapped in Ecuador recalls ordeal
Two tourists, freed after being kidnapped in north-eastern Ecuador, have recalled their ordeal.
Fiona Louise Wilde, an Australian, and Kathryn Sara Cox, who is British, were seized on Friday by what Ecuadorean authorities said was a Colombian group. They had been travelling in a canoe while visiting a remote nature reserve in the Amazon jungle.
Ms Wilde told reporters that they believed their captors had been close to killing them.
"When the helicopters got right above us, the kidnappers made us hide under bushes and the kidnappers got scared.
"They were, we think, close to maybe killing us and then for some reason they changed their mind and told us to run," she said.
