Cocoa bandits terrorise Madagascan farmers

The island of Madagascar is renowned across the world for its production of vanilla.

But it also produces volumes of highly valuable cocoa that is exported to chocolate makers across Europe and the USA.

Cocoa farming sustains thousands of families in the northwest of the island, but farmers have increasingly come under threat.

Cocoa bandits are terrorising the locals and stealing their valuable cash crops.

Navdip Dhariwal reports.
