A former soldier has been sentenced by a court in Guatemala to 6,060 years in prison for his role in a massacre of 201 people during the country's civil war.

Pedro Pimentel Rios denied being part of the 1982 attack on the village of Dos Erres which was suspected of sheltering left-wing guerrillas.
