Fraud claims spark post-electoral violence in Nicaragua

Violent clashes have broken out in Nicaragua in the wake of the disputed re-election of President Daniel Ortega on Sunday.

At least four people - three opposition supporters and one government supporter - were shot dead in the north of the country, police said, while anti-Ortega protesters fired flares and threw objects in the capital Managua.

The main opposition candidate, Fabio Gadea, has denounced the election result as fraud, and international observers have questioned the transparency of the vote.

Liliet Heredero reports.
