Mexico bicentenary marked with parade and fireworks

Tens of thousands of people attended the celebrations in Mexico City to mark the 200th anniversary of the country's independence from Spain.

A huge parade took place in the capital, with a spectacular fireworks finale, and parties were held across the country.

But security was high in many areas because of fears over violence from drug cartels, and more than 14,000 police officers were on duty in the capital.
