Summerland rescuers recall disaster on 40th anniversary

As the names of those killed in a fire 40 years ago at a leisure centre in the Isle of Man are inscribed on a memorial, firefighters have been recalling what happened that day.

About 3,000 holidaymakers were inside the Summerland leisure complex in Douglas when fire swept through the building on 2 August 1973.

The disaster led to changes in fire regulations in the Isle of Man, the UK and around the world.
