Balaclava-clad police seize ballots at Catalan polling station

Hundreds of people have been injured during clashes over Catalonia's independence referendum.

The Spanish government is refusing to recognize the referendum, deeming it illegal.

Police have forcibly removed ballot papers from some voters. Some shouted: "We will vote! We are peaceful people"
