French Shakespearean theatre 'desecrated'

It was built as tribute to Anglo-French friendship, but a week before its official opening, France's first ever Shakespearean-style theatre has been vandalised.

Graffiti reading "irresponsible politicians" and "shame on you" was spray-painted on the building.

The markings have been described by the building's British architect, Andrew Todd, as "politically motivated desecration".

Hugh Schofield reports.
