John Humphrys investigates the crises facing the EU

The European Union rose from the destruction of World War Two. Its founders dreamed of a United States of Europe, spreading peace and prosperity over the continent.

Now that dream seems a remote prospect and three crises threaten the future of the EU - economic uncertainty, Britain voting to possibly leave the union and a migrant crisis of biblical proportions.

In a special report for the Today programme, John Humphrys investigates whether the very existence of the EU is under threat.
