Hungarian PM will consider amending media law if required by the EU

Hungary's prime minister has said he wants to defuse political tensions over his country's contentious new media law which is seen by critics as an attack on press freedom.

Viktor Orban was speaking as Hungary begins its six-month presidency of the European Union marked on Friday by ceremonies in Budapest.
