'The people of Belarus deserved better' say international observers

International observers have said the presidential election in Belarus was "seriously flawed".

President Alexander Lukashenko has been returned to office, with almost 80% of the vote.

Tony Lloyd of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said the people of Belarus ''deserved better''.
