EU steps up effort to fight organised crime

The European Union is stepping up its efforts to fight organised crime in countries wanting to join.

Around 80% of the money spent in so-called candidate countries is used in tackling crime and bolstering local law enforcement.

One country where the campaign is strongest is Montenegro - once part of Yugoslavia, which now has hopes of joining both Nato and the EU
