The devastation of Tasmania's fires

Drone and helicopter footage has laid bare the devastation of forest land in Tasmania from fires, begun by a series of lightning strikes, that have been burning since 13 January.

The images from Greenpeace Australia and the Wilderness Society showed 1,000-year-old trees that had been destroyed by the flames.

They said an estimate 105,000 hectares has been burned so far.
