Japan doubles estimate of radiation leak

Japan's official nuclear safety agency has more than doubled its estimate of how much radiation escaped from the Fukushima nuclear plant in the week after it was crippled by the earthquake and tsunami in March.

More than 80,000 local residents living within a 20km (12 mile) radius of the plant have been told to leave their homes.

The BBC's Roland Buerk reports from Tokyo.
