South Korea border clash: Defence minister resigns

The South Korean defence minister has resigned following North Korea's shelling of an island near their disputed maritime border.

Kim Tae-young had been criticised for his handling of the incident on Yeonpyeong, in which two soldiers and two civilians died.

Seoul said it would change its rules of engagement to allow it to respond more forcefully to similar incidents, and has increased troop numbers on five islands near the border.

Damian Grammaticas reports from Yeonpyeong.
