Residents flee as volcano erupts in the Philippines

Up to 1,000 people have been evacuated from their homes after a volcano erupted in the Philippines.

Mount Bulusan, in the south-east of the country, is spewing clouds of ash into the sky. The volcano suddenly became active on 6 November after it released a jet of ash approximately 600m high.

Trucks have been helping to move people from the immediate area.
