China's human rights 'getting worse'

Prime Minister David Cameron, who is on a visit to China, has underlined the link between democracy and economic progress.

However, when Mr Cameron spoke about the importance of human rights he did not make any public mention of the fate of the Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo, who had called for greater freedoms in China and so was jailed for subversion.

In the month since the award was announced, China has placed dozens of Liu Xiaobo's friends and supporters under house arrest or detention.

The BBC's China Correspondent Damian Grammaticas reports.
