Asylum seeker unrest in Australia

More than 80 asylum seekers have staged a protest against long delays in processing applications.

The refugees, most of whom were Afghans, broke out of the detention centre where they are being held while their applications are being reviewed, and began their protest against the time it was taking for their cases to be processed.

Speaking to local Australian media, one protester said "please treat us like human beings".
