Journalist tells of WW1 Indian soldiers book

The forgotten but crucially important role of Indians in World War One is the subject of a new book by journalist Shrabani Basu.

1.5 million soldiers from undivided India fought in the conflict, including a 10-year-old tea boy to the Maharaja of Bikaner, and 72,000 died.

Behind the casualty lists there are some compelling stories which up until now have been buried in the archives of the British Library.
