Tensions high in Bangladesh after war crimes sentencing

Tensions are high in Bangladesh after a tribunal sentenced a leading Islamist figure to death for war crimes that took place more than four decades ago.

Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid was student leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami party during the war of independence with Pakistan, and is accused of setting up militia groups that targeted those who supported liberation.

On Monday the tribunal sentenced the former head of the party, sparking violence that has left at least five dead.

Mahfuz Sadique reports from Dhaka.
