Iranian refugees 'trapped' in Turkey awaiting asylum process

Thousands of Iranians fled to Turkey after the political unrest which followed the disputed 2009 presidential elections in their country.

But many refugees are frustrated that they are still waiting for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to process their asylum applications so they can start a new life in a European country.

The UNHCR says it simply does not have enough resources to process applications at a faster rate due to the increase in the number of refugees
