Kabul blast kills at least one

At least one person has been killed in an explosion in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

Several more were injured in the blast, which took place on the Jalalabad road, home to many Nato bases and compounds housing international staff.

General Mohammad Dawood Amin, the deputy police chief, said it was a suicide attack.

The explosion happened near the offices of an international construction company, but it was unclear what the target was.

Mohammad Zabiullah, a worker at US military contractor Contrack, said some of his colleagues were still under the rubble.

The Taliban claimed responsibility.
