English teacher describes moment Japan earthquake struck

An English teacher has described the moment a 7.3 magnitude earthquake was felt in the town where he was teaching a group of seven-year-olds.

John Heritage was with the children in Miyagi Prefecture, which bore the brunt of the devastating tsunami of 2011.

A metre-high wave hit the coast following the quake, but a tsunami warning has now been lifted.

"Even young kids know what to do, they know the procedure and they just get on with it," Mr Heritage told the BBC.
