Landslide warnings issued for much of southern Japan

The Meteorological Agency has issued heavy rain and landslide warnings across large parts of southern Japan.

Thousands of people have been evacuated, while rescuers continue to search for missing people in the worst hit areas.

Local media in Aso City reported that the death toll rose to 19 on Friday, with at least eight people missing.
