Stalemate in search for Burundi peace deal

The government of Burundi has rejected a proposed date of 6 January 2106 to resume talks aimed at ending the deadly violence in the country.

Discussions have been held in neighbouring Uganda with more talks originally planned for early in the new year.

Hundreds of people have died since President Nkurunziza said he would run for a third term in office. Elections which he has since won.
