Oscar Pistorius' uncle: 'Big burden lifted' after murder trial verdict

The uncle of Oscar Pistorius has said that a "big burden" has been lifted from the family, after the South African athlete was found not guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

In a short statement delivered alongside his wife Lois, Arnold Pistorius thanked the judge, Thokozile Masipa, for her verdict.

He also said the sympathies of his family were with Ms Steenkamp's loved ones.

''It won't bring Reeva back, but our hearts still go out to her family and friends,'' he said.
