Nigerian military 'demoralised' against Boko Haram

The Nigerian military are "demoralised" and not willing to risk their lives against the better-equipped Islamist militant group Boko Haram, a representative of opposition party All Progressives Congress (APC) Sharon Ikeazor has said.

Kashim Shettima, governor of Nigeria's Borno state, added that the country's government had only "woken up" to Boko Haram's abduction of about 200 schoolgirls when there was global outcry.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Thursday 15 May.
