Egyptian protesters fill Tahrir Square ahead of mass rally

Crowds have been gathering in Cairo's Tahrir Square on the eve of a mass rally to demand the resignation of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.

As darkness fell, footage from the scene showed thousands of people milling in the square, focus of the protests which brought down his predecessor, Hosni Mubarak.

Tensions have been rising ahead of Sunday's rally, which marks the first anniversary of Mr Morsi's inauguration.
