Gaddafi accused of using rape as weapon

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, has said he is increasingly convinced that the Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi has promoted the use of rape as a weapon.

The United Nations Human Rights Council is to meet in Geneva to debate a report which also alleges that Libyan opposition forces were involved in acts of torture.

Colonel Gaddafi and the rebels trying to depose him are both expected to send representatives to Geneva to respond to the charges.

Bridget Kendall reports.
