Adapting to Russia's new economic reality

Through its military operation in Syria, Moscow has been projecting the image of a Russia re-born, a global power to rival America.

Back home problems are mounting for President Putin. The economy has been hit by falling oil prices and Western sanctions. Investment is down and real incomes are falling.
