Tony Blair: Anti-Islamic State action in Syria 'inevitable'

British action in Syria to tackle so-called Islamic State is "inevitable", former prime minister Tony Blair has claimed.

Mr Blair said that the Paris attacks on 13 November showed that such groups, if given the opportunity to "gain strength", would come to Europe and the US and target Westerners there.

Speaking to the BBC, Mr Blair said that the difference between the fight against IS and with previous conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, during his premiership, was that the West had allies in the region who were also tackling extremists.
