UN global arms trade treaty comes into force

An international treaty controlling the sale of weapons comes into force on Wednesday.

Campaigners hope it will prevent weapons being used for war crimes or genocide.

The US, by far the largest arms producer, has yet to ratify the UN treaty, which has been signed by 130 countries.

China and Russia, however, have refused to do so.
