Freedom2014: An animated view

Fin McMorran is a senior lecturer in Media Studies at Teesside University in the UK and has been working with animation since 2008.

"This animation represents freedom of thought - the right to be the person you are and not just toe the line," says Fin.

"The fish is a creature that is fluid, able to move freely and with grace, contrasting with the heavy, dark and regimented space."

People from around the world have been sharing their paintings, photographs and videos with the BBC on the theme of freedom. Find out more here.
