UN launches emergency appeal for Sri Lanka

The United Nations is launching an emergency appeal for Sri Lanka, where floods have killed at least 32 people and displaced more than 300,000 others.

Some people on the east of the island, which was worst hit, are returning home as the floods subside, but there have been warnings of water-borne diseases.

Charles Haviland reports.
