Water survey shows billions at risk of 'water insecurity'

A global survey of the world's river systems has concluded that nearly 80% of the world's population lives near rivers which are under threat.

The survey details are published in the journal Nature which also accuses developed nations of failing to address underlying threats to fresh water sources.
