Japan frees Chinese boat captain amid row

Japan has released a Chinese fishing boat captain whose arrest in disputed waters two weeks ago sparked the worst row with Beijing in years.

The fisherman was held after his vessel collided with the Japanese coast guard in disputed waters.

On Thursday China detained four Japanese nationals on suspicion of entering a restricted Chinese military zone.

Roland Buerk reports.
