Brexit: People want control of immigration, Cairns says

Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns has said the UK government is closer to the thinking of voters on immigration than the first minister Carwyn Jones.

It follows a meeting in Cardiff of ministers from around the UK on Brexit, chaired by Prime Minister Theresa May.

Mr Cairns said Mrs May's goal of a free trade deal without membership of the single European market was "not inconsistent" with First Minister Carwyn Jones's call for "full and unfettered" access to the market.
