Asylum seekers 'live in fear of falling foul of systems'

Asylum seeking families arriving in Wales "live in fear of falling foul of systems", the umbrella body Children in Wales has told AMs.

Cheryl Martin from the organisation was giving evidence to an inquiry into refugees and asylum seekers in Wales by the assembly's Equality, Local Government and Communities Committee.

The Welsh Local Government Association said on Thursday that more than 300 Syrian refugees will be housed across all council areas in Wales by the end of 2016.

Explaining the need for more support for families new to the country, Ms Martin said they "don't understand how things work in Wales", in areas such as education and health.
