UKIP's Neil Hamilton 'no interest' in leading the party

UKIP Wales leader Neil Hamilton has said he has "no interest" in becoming the party's overall leader in place of Diane James.

She resigned just 18 days after winning the election to succeed Nigel Farage, saying she did not feel she had the authority or support of her party's MEPs to make changes in the party.

Mr Farage has claimed he will continue as interim leader of UKIP pending a fresh election for a successor.

He told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme the idea of Mr Hamilton taking charge would be a "horror story".

Mr Hamilton rejected Mr Farage's criticism, but told the BBC's Daily Politics programme he would not seek the leadership.
