BBC 100 Women 2016: Facts needed about Welsh heroines

A Welsh filmmaker has called for more to be known about inspirational woman who have shaped the course of history.

Less than 17% of biographies on Wikipedia and less than 10% of entries in the Dictionary of Welsh Biography (DWB) are about women.

On Thursday, some of Wales' most influential women will take part in a 12-hour edit-a-thon to try and close the gender gap.

The nine women will take part in the event at the same time as hundreds of others across the world as part of an event to conclude this year's BBC 100 Women series.

Amy Morris, who made a film about Lady Rhondda, said: "If the information is not there, how can we know about them?".
