'It is possible to have the right safeguards' says commissioner

The Children's Commissioner for Wales does not want parents to be put off in allowing children to take part in sport after reports of historical child sexual abuse at football clubs.

South Wales Police and Dyfed-Powys Police are each investigating one complaint - the former said the "non-recent" abuse complaint concerned an amateur side.

North Wales Police said it was looking into "a number of reports of non-recent sexual abuse".

Prof Sally Holland said "we've come a long way" and "it is possible to have the right safeguards in place."
