Fears for Welsh meat in US after Donald Trump election

Fears have been raised the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States could scupper efforts to get Welsh meat back on the menu across the Atlantic.

British lamb and beef have been banned in the US since the BSE crisis almost 20 years ago.

But there are plans to have that restriction relaxed, with Meat Promotion Wales saying it is "very, very close" to securing access to the American market once again.

However, the body says the election win for Trump, who has championed protectionist policies, could have "implications".

Matthew Murray reports from the Royal Welsh Winter Fair in Llanelwedd, Powys.
