Lewis Merthyr Colliery: Event remembers men killed in blast

A remembrance event has been held to mark 60 years since nine men were killed in a coal mining disaster in Rhondda Cynon Taff.

A rock fall at Lewis Merthyr Colliery ignited a methane gas explosion in November 1956.

The men who died were remembered at Rhondda Heritage Park which stands on the site of the former pit.

BBC Wales' Nicola Smith met former miner Ivor England, who was working at the time of the blast.
