Suited would-be armed robber jailed after Newport raid

A would-be armed robber has been jailed for the attempted raid of a Newport Post Office.

Kane Wannell, 19, of Rogerstone was dressed in a suit and carried an imitation gun.

Wannell admitted attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm and was given a four-year sentence.

Cardiff Crown Court heard he waved the weapon and shouted "armed robbery" but customers and staff thought he was joking.
